In class I found my first motif of flight -
In feel like I have used quite a ballet style for this motif and utilised deep plies and arm positions. I think my motif really communicates the story and the feeling of flying. In places however I do feel like my movements are a bit too literal in places. I should try and find a more abstract way of portraying the wings and the motion of flight.
When developing this motif I should try use the techniques that affect space and size so I can really show the arches and falls within the pattern I have created. I should also make sure to play with the staging because most of my movements face the front mostly. I should also consider using the floor more as I have choreographed most of my moves using the vertical plane.
I have made good progress with me solo, hopefully it will continue as I work on my next motif which will most likely be the creation of the wings.

Exam Question 3 - Icarus exploration
I have to decided to choose Question 3 on the AQA mock paper to centre my solo around. I picked this particular question because I felt that the clear narrative and characters would provide my work with plenty of material to begin choreographing with. I did lots of research into the story of Icarus and all this work can be found in the green section of my folder but I will condense some of my ideas and findings into little bullet points:
- I could centre the narrative of the dance around Icarus OR his father,
- I could possibly play around with the ideas of greek music,
- I could base any motifs around traditional greek dance,
- I want to have 4 strong clear sections that depict; entrapment; creation (wings); flight and falling
I'm excited to begin work on my first motif next lesson; I will most likely be starting with flight.
